Website Design for Surrey Electricians: What Wins Leads

    October 7, 2026 · Websites for electricians

    Back to the blog

Most people choosing an electrician in Surrey look at two or three websites before they pick up the phone. If those sites all look the same, with the same template, the same stock photo of a panel and the same list of services, the only thing left to compare is price.

A good electrical contractor website gives them something else to go on: proof that you do the specific job they need, in their city, and that you're easy to reach. Here's what that looks like in practice, based on the sites we build for electrical contractors in Surrey and the Lower Mainland.

Why so many electrician websites end up competing on price

The same four problems show up again and again:

    1. It looks like everyone else's. A generic electrician theme with stock photos gives a visitor no reason to pick you.
    2. Every service is on one page. Panel upgrades, EV chargers, commercial work and solar all share one list, so someone searching for a panel upgrade never lands on a page about panel upgrades.
    3. There's no proof. Visitors can't see any finished work, so they have nothing to judge you on except the quote.
    4. It never mentions where you work. If the site doesn't name Surrey, Langley or the other cities you cover, local searches go to someone whose site does.

What an electrical contractor website needs

A page for each service you want more of

Residential, commercial and specialty work should each have their own page, written the way customers search. "Panel upgrade Surrey," "EV charger installation" and "commercial electrical contractor" are different searches, and each one needs somewhere specific to land.

    Photos of your own jobs

A gallery of work your crew finished does more than any stock photo. It doesn't need to be huge. A dozen good photos of real panels, lighting and installs gives a homeowner or builder something to look at before they call.

    Credentials people can find

Homeowners and GCs want to know you're licensed and insured. Put your Technical Safety BC licence number (plenty of people still call it BCSA), your insurance and any association memberships you actually hold somewhere visible, not buried on an About page.

    Easy calling on mobile

Most visitors will be on their phone. The number should be a tap-to-call link in the header and on every service page, with a short form nearby for people who'd rather write.

    Local search basics

Name the cities you serve, give each main service its own page, keep your Google Business Profile consistent with the site, and set up page titles, descriptions and structured data properly. For a trades company, that's most of local SEO.

Template sites vs a site built around your work

Cheap template sites are quick to launch, and that's about their only advantage. You end up with a theme that already looks like three other Surrey electricians, a thin services list and nowhere to show the jobs that build trust.

A properly built trades site takes more time because it's structured content: separate service pages, a real project gallery, service-area pages and branding that fits the quality of your work.

Two examples from our own work:

    • Able Electrical LTD in Surrey: a rebuild with 18 service pages, a gallery of 21 real jobs and local SEO for Surrey and the Lower Mainland.
    • Trends Electrical LTD: 19 service pages across residential, commercial and solar, service-area pages from Vancouver out to Abbotsford, and a portfolio of their projects.

The point isn't the page count. It's that each job type and each area has a page that can show up in search and answer the customer's questions.

If your logo could be swapped onto the next contractor's site and nobody would notice, you're competing on price whether you meant to or not.

How local SEO helps electricians in the Lower Mainland

For an electrical contractor, local SEO mostly comes down to being clear: which cities you serve, which services you offer, and the same information on your website and your Google Business Profile.

If you work across Surrey, Langley, Delta, Burnaby, Abbotsford or Vancouver, service-area pages and copy that mentions those cities make it less likely a searcher lands on a competitor instead. The Trends Electrical site, for example, has area pages for cities from Vancouver to Abbotsford.

Local SEO won't replace a good phone number at the top of the page, though. It gets the right person to your site. The page still has to make it easy for them to call.

A quick check of your current site

Open your site on your phone and ask:

    • Is there a dedicated page for the service you want more of?
    • Are there photos of your own finished jobs?
    • Can you find your licence number and insurance details in a few seconds?
    • Can you call the shop in one tap from a service page?
    • Does the site say which cities you actually cover?

If two or more of those are a no, it's probably costing you calls.

    FAQ

What should an electrician's website include?

Separate pages for your main services, photos of your own work, your licence and insurance details, tap-to-call on mobile, a short contact form, and the cities you serve. Those basics cover most of what customers look for.

Do I need a separate page for every service?

For the services you want more of, yes. Someone searching for "EV charger installation Surrey" is more likely to find and call you if there's a page about exactly that. Smaller services can share a page.

Is a template website good enough for an electrician?

It gets you online, but it usually looks like other contractors' sites and leaves little room for service pages and project photos. If you're competing for bigger jobs, a site built around your work gives customers more reasons to choose you.
